Jazz Collective

Hey! We are Jazz Collective.

We are a group of musicians based in Boston who love playing jazz together.
Whether it’s bebop, blues, or funk, we love to bring the energy!

Our sets move between original music and classic standards. No matter the set, we aim to have fun, listen to each other, and let the improvisation take things somewhere interesting.

You can find us performing around Boston, recording music, and showing up at community events.

Studio Recording

We also recorded an album on Spotify.

These tracks are original compositions by Karl Lackner.

Live Performances

Fenway Stadium Performance

Jazz Collective performing in the Fenway Box

One of our favorite shows happened at Fenway Stadium in Boston.

It was a great high energy night. We moved through standards and a few originals while the crowd hung out and enjoyed the music.

Beats & Eats

This clip is from Beats & Eats, a jazz concert/fundraiser.

It was an indoor set with a lot of rhythm and space for improvisation, aiming for relaxed music.

Community & Events

We also play for community events around Boston.

That includes graduation ceremonies, local gatherings, and neighborhood celebrations. Music is always better when it brings people together.

The group also helped out with a food drive for the Allston Brighton Food Pantry. Playing music while supporting the local community felt like the right combination.

Workshops & Musical Growth

Members of Jazz Collective have taken part in workshops with jazz artist Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah.

Those sessions focused on modern improvisation, listening deeply, and exploring where jazz can go next.

Workshop with Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah session 1

Working through improvisation ideas during the session.

Workshop with Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah session 2

Playing and discussing ideas with other musicians.

Workshop with Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah session 3

Exploring different directions in modern jazz.

Sound

If you come to a show, you will probably hear:

  • Bebop improvisation
  • Funk grooves
  • Blues inspired phrasing
  • Classic jazz standards
  • Original compositions

All played with the laid back energy of a Boston jazz group that enjoys making music together.
